My Story

Growing up as the only girl among my four brothers, I was naturally drawn to "girly things" like dresses and makeup. My fascination with the exquisite packaging and elegant gold accents of my mother's makeup products sparked my love for cosmetics at a young age. Around 13, my mother took me to have my makeup professionally done at the Estee Lauder counter, teaching me the appropriate techniques for my age. I was in awe of the makeup artist and their job. It seemed so glamorous and untouchable...certainly for a girl from the small town in the smallest state.

At 19 years old, I entered the world of retail management. It wasn't until I secured a position as an assistant manager at Origins in 2000 that I truly delved into skincare and makeup. Performing mini-facials and makeup applications for clients brought me immense joy. Witnessing the transformative power of makeup on individuals' confidence and self-esteem inspired me. After seven years, burnout pushed me to take a step back.

In 2006, feeling lost without a career, I enrolled in Esthetics school at Elizabeth Grady in Medford. The comprehensive program equipped me with knowledge and skills in facials, waxing, and makeup application. Despite working at a spa during a challenging personal period, the lack of health insurance led me to make the difficult decision to move on. Returning to retail management provided financial stability but left me unfulfilled.

In 2015, a former Origins manager offered me a part-time opportunity as a freelance makeup artist for Bare Minerals. Eager to rediscover the joy I once found in makeup artistry, I accepted the position. This led to freelancing for other brands, specializing in brow waxing and tinting as an Arch Expert. In 2017, I made a deliberate shift to establish my own freelance business, Danielle Perry Beauty. Navigating the changes in the makeup industry, driven by social media, proved challenging but motivated me to continuously refine my skills.

To stay updated and improve, I actively seek intensive workshops and educational opportunities. My artistry extends to various domains, including bridal, runway, commercial, and print work. I have had the honor of showcasing my work at New York Fashion Week and Style Week North East. Additionally, my artistry has been featured in esteemed publications such as Boston Magazine, RI Monthly, New Hampshire Magazine, Modern Luxury Weddings Boston, and WJAR 10.
